Michigan Blood to Launch Television Campaign Highlighting Its Lifesaving Efforts as Pure Michigan

The state’s nationally recognized Pure Michigan brand is growing. Nonprofit blood center Michigan Blood today launched a television advertising campaign that highlights the organization’s work as Pure Michigan.

“Partnering with community causes like Michigan Blood is a logical expansion of our efforts to promote Pure Michigan and all the state has to offer,” said George Zimmermann, vice president for Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “Michigan Blood provides much-needed blood donations to hometown Michigan hospitals, demonstrating the generosity, hospitality and local pride found across the state that is the driving force behind Pure Michigan. We are proud to partner with Michigan Blood in this important campaign.”

The advertising campaign will run in markets across the state and feature footage from previous Pure Michigan campaigns, as well as the Pure Michigan logo.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Pure Michigan,” said Bill Rietscha, president and CEO of Michigan Blood. “It is a brand that represents the very best of Michigan and is a point of pride for our citizens. We’re honored to carry Pure Michigan’s logo throughout this campaign.”

In addition to serving as a new way to reinforce Michigan Blood’s focus on Michigan’s blood needs, the campaign also calls attention to the need for blood donation in the summer months.

“Summer is the toughest season to connect with donors,” said Rietscha. “People are busy being away from their schools or places of work. In turn, we must ramp up our efforts to encourage people to make the life saving choice of blood donation.”

Pure Michigan’s association with Michigan Blood is part of the state’s heightened focus on Michigan being a great place to do business.

“The Pure Michigan campaign has been a great success for Michigan’s travel and tourism industry,” Zimmermann said. “Now we want to start to share some of that success with businesses that not only make Michigan a great place to visit, but a great place to live.”
