Zombie Dash…. If you Dare

Zombies will be looming around corners, and jumping out of the darkness this October during a pair of scary-fun adventures in Grand Rapids and Holly.  Not only will visitors to the Zombie Dash get the fright they were hoping for, but they’ll also be supporting Michigan Blood.

The Michigan Blood Stem Cell Program is the charity partner for the Zombie Dash events. The stem cell program recruits potential marrow/stem cell donors for the National Marrow Donor Program’s Be The Match® Registry.  It costs more than $100 in tissue-type testing to add just one potential donor to the national Registry. Michigan Blood is also a regional collection site for stem cell donations. 70% of patients suffering from illnesses like leukemia, lymphoma and 70 other blood related diseases, turn to the Be The Match Registry for a matching marrow/stem cell donor. More than 10,000 patients turn to the National Marrow Donor Program’s Be The Match Registry every year.  Currently just over 10 million people are on the Registry, meaning that approximately only 4 out of every 10 patients find a match.

If you’d like to take part in either of the upcoming Zombie Dashes, here’s the schedule:

Zombies will be giving chase in Holly at sunset on Saturday, October 13th at the Holly State Recreation Area. (between Flint and Detroit).

In downtown Grand Rapids, zombies will be looking to scare visitors at sunset on Saturday, October 27, at Ah Nab-Awen Park.

Both dashes have been organized by Michigan Adventure Racing.  To find out the full details on either of these events, go to the Zombie Dash website at:  http://thezombiedash.com.
