$10 donation for every person who attempts to donate

Smart Commute Week is an annual week-long celebration of smart commuting that takes place the first full week in June. In addition to encouraging new smart commuters, the purpose of the week is to gather and celebrate the community’s year-round veteran smart commuters and infrastructure improvements to provide more safe, connected and accessible active transportation. This event is hosted by TART Trails in Traverse City.

As an additional way to give back to the community and support the trails, Michigan Blood will donate $10 to TART Trails for each person that attempts to donate blood Monday, June 10th through Tuesday, June 11th at the Main Donor Center on 2575 Aero Park Drive in Traverse City. Appointments are preferred, but drop ins are welcome.

“We know people get busy this time of year with outdoor activities and busy summer schedules,” says Allison Beers, Public Relations Coordinator. “Still, the need for blood is always there, so we are asking people to stop in and help support not only Michigan Blood, but TART Trails as well.”

Any healthy person 17 or older (or 16 with parental consent) who weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to give blood every 56 days.  Blood donors should bring photo ID (or two forms of non-photo ID). Appointments (preferred, but not required) can be made online at www.miblood.org or by calling 1-866-MIBLOOD (642-5663).
