Blood Donation In Midst Of Summer Slump

Donors Needed Throughout Michigan To Help Save Lives

Michigan summers are like no other. We wait through what seems like endless winters for a hint of warm weather. And when it’s here, we try to fill our calendars with as much summer fun as possible before it’s gone. But often, that summer rush leads to a drop in blood donations.

Unfortunately, the need for blood doesn’t take a vacation and the demand for blood remains constant. While we continue to provide hospitals with blood for their patients, there is always a need for donors during the summer months to maintain healthy inventories. In addition, there are several O negative users in the community and although we have been able to support them, we appreciate any help the community can give to refill the supply.

This ongoing need for blood offers a great opportunity for veteran and first time donors alike to make a lifesaving impact this summer. Stop by your local Michigan Blood donation center today and be somebody who saves lives. Your donation will benefit patients in more than 40 Michigan hospitals who depend on Michigan Blood donors for the lifesaving gift of blood donation.

If you’re not eligible to donate, ask a friend or family member to donate. Every unit counts and sometimes asking is all it takes. If you are eligible, ask a friend or family member to come with you and be heroes together.

Any healthy person 17 or older (or 16 with parental consent) who weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate. Blood donors should bring photo ID.
