Help support blood banks at local hospitals during the start of the busy summer season

The first holiday weekend of the season traditionally signals the start of another beautiful Pure Michigan summer. It also means a slow-down in blood donations as people travel to parades, cook-outs, and spend time with family and friends.

Michigan Blood is encouraging donors to make an appointment to stop in one of our donor centers during the Memorial Day holiday to help ensure an adequate blood supply at hospitals around Michigan.

“We know people get busy this time of year with outdoor activities, graduations and travel,” says Carleen Crawford, Director of Community Relations.  “Still, the need for blood never takes a holiday, so we are asking people to set aside about an hour of time to help save lives.”

When you share with Michigan Blood you could save a life across the state or right here at home. And donors are needed right now. Donate at the donor center(s) listed below and receive a $10 Meijer gift card as a token of our gratitude for your lifesaving gift.

The gift cards are a simple way to say thanks for helping during a time of high need, and it gives us a chance to let our donors know how important they are to the patients at more than 50 Michigan hospitals that rely on Michigan Blood.
