Michigan Blood Returns To Spirit of America Blood Drive

Michigan International Speedway hosting annual blood drive to honor victims and heroes of 9/11

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (August 19, 2014) – On Thursday, September 11, Michigan Blood and Michigan International Speedway (MIS) renew their partnership at the Spirit of America Blood Drive. This one of a kind event pays tribute to the victims and heroes of 9/11, while bringing in hundreds of lifesaving blood donations.

Michigan Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals Appoint Board of Directors

Michigan Blood director of volunteer services, Donna Martorano, is the newly appointed Education Chair for the Michigan Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals (MHVRP) state board of directors. She will serve on the board for the 2014-15 year. Martorano has been a member of MHVRP for three years and previously served on the board as Bylaws and Education co-chair.

Michigan Blood Joins Gilda’s Club of Lowell For Pink Arrow Pride

Gilda’s Club of Lowell receives $10 for every person who attempts to donate at July 29 blood drive

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (July 23, 2014) – Thanks to the efforts of Nancy Brinker, sister to Susan G. Komen, and thousands around the world, the color pink is synonymous with the fight against breast cancer. Since 1982, Brinker and others have gone on to raise awareness and millions of dollars for the cause. In 2008, the Lowell High School football team joined the movement, suiting up in pink jerseys to host the first Pink Arrow Pride game and help raise money and awareness for cancer. To date they’ve raised over $1 million.

In 2010, Michigan Blood joined the Pink Arrow Pride movement, hosting a blood drive to raise funds for Gilda’s Club and raise awareness for the connection between donating blood and fighting cancer.
