First-Of-A-Kind Health Fair to Feature Many Activities
COOPERSVILLE, MI: A Community Health Fair organized by Skylar Plaza merchants and the Coopersville Area Chamber of Commerce with support from many local health care organizations will offer free information – and more – on personal health and safety for people of all ages. Thursday, July 21 is the date set for the event, which will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. in Skylar Plaza, 1136 W. Randall Street. The public is invited.
Exhibitors at the Community Health Fair will make available a wide range of information and services (many of them free), such as free blood-type testing (available 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.), and the opportunity to save lives by donating blood (also 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). The following organizations and individuals are all expected to participate in the Coopersville Community Health Fair:
- Michigan Community Blood Centers – Blood Typing and Blood Drive, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.*
- Saint Mary’s Mobile Mammography – Mammograms*
- Dr. Jim Waswick – Chiropractic Information
- Dr. Greg Gadbois, MMPC – Blood Pressure Screening
- Dr. Al LaFleur – Dental Information
- Northern Physical Therapy – Physical Therapy Information
- Natural Alternatives – Massage
- Xtreme Fitness and Curves for Women – Physical Fitness and Health Information
- Area Fire Department Volunteers – Fire and Tornado Training
- Pediatric & Adult Asthma Network of West Michigan – Asthma Information
- NU-Bones – Osteoporosis Screening
- Ottawa County Health Department – Free Bike Helmets For Kids plus answers to your health and safety questions.
*Appointments for blood donation are not necessary but will be appreciated – call 233-8505. Appointments and pre-registration for mammograms are preferred – call 752-6266.
Michigan Community Blood Centers, a nonprofit blood bank, provides 100 percent of the regular blood supply for all hospitals in Kent County, which treat 8 out of every 10 Coopersville residents who seek hospital care each year. Statewide, the Michigan Community Blood Centers network of local blood banks provides the entire blood supply for hospitals in 20 counties with a combined population exceeding 1.5 million.
