THE SAGINAW SPIRIT hockey club held its second blood drive with Michigan Community Blood Centers on January 4, 2008 with great results: “In a 4-hour span, we registered 64 prospective donors and collected 44 pints of blood, with 13 from first-time donors!” reports Arlene LaTarte, Blood Center recruiter in Saginaw. “The Spirit provided a ‘live’ feed into the blood drive room so hockey fans who were donating did not have to miss a minute of the action. Garret Sinfield, one of The Spirit players (far left in the lefthand photo above), visited with blood donors at the canteen table. We also had a visit from The Spirit Eagle mascot, who posed for pictures with anyone who was interested.” Arlene credits great teamwork with keeping everything flowing smoothly throughout the drive. Thanks to all the donors and volunteers who helped make The Spirit’s blood drive so successful, with special thanks to The Spirit and TheDow Event Center for their warm and enthusiastic support of the community blood supply.
