“We know the days surrounding the Memorial Day holiday are a busy time with lots of people on the move,” says Carleen Crawford, Director of Community Relations and Marketing. “The gift cards are a simple way to say thanks for helping during a time of high need, and it gives us a chance to let our donors know how important they are to the patients at more than 50 Michigan hospitals that rely on Michigan Blood.”

Appointments are preferred for donor convenience, but not mandatory. To schedule an appointment, please call 1-866-MIBLOOD (642-5663) or schedule online through our donor portal. Any healthy person 17 or older (16 with parental consent) who weighs at least 110 pounds may be eligible to donate.

Giving Tuesday is the perfect day to take a break from the holiday shopping rush and take a breath. Then give from the heart. Michigan Blood is teaming up with Gilda's Club Grand Rapids to encourage the community to start a new holiday tradition ... giving back.

Stop by our Grand Rapids donor center to give blood between 8 am and 3:30 pm on Tuesday, December 2, and Michigan Blood will pay it forward by donating $5 to the Gilda's Club High Five Fund. And if you can find it in your heart to give a little more, Michigan Blood is also collecting items from Gilda's Club Wish List.

Gilda's Club Grand Rapids, inspired by Gilda Radner and her journey with ovarian cancer, provides emotional support community where children, adults, families, and friends find their smile and laughter in the midst of a cancer or grief journey. All programs are provided FREE to Gilda's Club members, and individual gifts make a huge impact for their members. With clubhouses in Grand Rapids and Lowell, all donations are sure to help right here in West Michigan.
