  Blood Bank Names New Manager in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY, MI (January 24, 2008): Sandra Warnaar, BSMT (ASCP) has been named Operations Manager for Michigan Community Blood Centers Northwest Blood Center in Traverse City, effective January 24, 2008. In that capacity she will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the blood bank throughout its 7-county service area (Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Manistee, and Osceola counties).

Before joining Michigan Community Blood Centers in July, 2008, Ms. Warnaar most recently worked in the Laboratory at Munson Medical Center. She also worked in the Laboratory at Michigan Community Blood Centers in Grand Rapids from 1982 to 1984. She received her degree at Wayne State University, completing her internship and working as a medical technologist at Detroit General Hospital. A resident of Traverse City for the past 24 years, Ms. Warnaar is an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast, and mother of two college-age children.

Michigan Community Blood Centers is an independent, nonprofit, community blood bank that provides 100 percent of the regular blood supply for hospitals in four major regions of the state (combined pop. 1.5 million), collecting more than 100,000 units of blood each year at mobile blood drives and permanent donation centers statewide.
